  • "A very remarkable private investigation" 1891 - info required

The short article below is from the North China Herald of 10 April 1891:

"The Daily News gives an account of a very remarkable private investigation into the Whitechapel murders, by which the murderer might have been discovered, if the police when informed had acted a little more promptly."

I have searched the Daily News for March and early April of 1891 for any mention of the Whitechapel murders. The only relevant story in that period was the final discharge of Sadler.
Does anyone know what story this refers to and the date of the Daily News article mentioned?
    Many thanks for any help
    Chris S

          Hi Chris,

Do you think it might relate to Bachert, his alleged sighting, and his confrontation with coroner Baxter?

          Yours truly,

Maybe you could check out the daily News of Friday, February 20, 1891

I saw this but haven't time to check the other columns at the moment.

In another column will be found an account of some
remarkable private investigaions made in reference
              to the previous Whitechapel murders.

The "investigation" in question is in fact the cattle boats theory

                          Hello Chris, all,

Umm, 'scuse me butting in here, but I think I am correct in saying that a fellow named Dr. Dennis Gratwick theorised that Jack was a North Sea Fisherman...unidentified. And again, memory permits me to think of this suspect identified by Andy Aliffe? Cant remember who atm.

Wonder if that has anything to do with this?

                          Just a thought

                          best wishes

                          Phil
