"We came; we saw; we kicked it's ass" LOL

Maybe that's what the mediums said having a session.

One thing, Mike, did this alleged instance happen before or after Robert Lees came to the police and offered his assistance in trying to capture the murderer? If before, do you think he might have read the article and decided to see if he could get some press attention or possibly boost his "business" by trying to help the police as well?

You would have to aim that question at Jenni Sheldon, she is the Lees expert.

            Hmm

As wacky as it sounds, one still wonders who showed up at 10PM at 9 Berner St. (It was a fairly well travelled area)

Just spoted this in The Western Mail, 8 October 1888.
Not sure if it's been seen before.

Hi Rob, I have a few different versions of that report, it's certainly very interested and I am sure it's published in one of the books that provide an overview of the case, I just can't remember which one!
                Regards Mike

Under the influence.....of liquid spirits....and more than a couple pints if you ask me.

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - beer in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride!'

                    Hi Mike,

If it was published it sounds like it would have been an Underwood or Harris book. It doesn't ring a bell with with me though.

Hi Rob, I don't think it was Harris, although he has a chapter on Robert Lees in his books that were released prior to the Ripper books so it could be.
                      Regards Mike

I think that would be 'Sorry you've been duped' which I believe originally appeared in 'The Unexplained' part work.

Hi Rob, Sorry You've Been Duped, and Investigating the Unexplained are the same books, however, they have different publishers, and were distributed in the UK (Sorry) and USA (Investigating) respectively.

Harris devotes a chapter to Lees entitled I Captured Jack the Ripper, and The Yorkshire Ripper and Mediums in another chapter.

Although Harris wrote for The Unexplained-Mysteries of Time and Space, I don't recall these articles in the part works, I have the full collection including some wonderful Jack the Ripper related ones.

Harris also covers the lost regiment which was earlier debunked in the same part works by a young man by the name of Paul Begg!

I can't work out where I have seen it now, and have poured over Harris, Sugden, Begg and still cannot find it, although there are a fair few versions here,

                          Regards Mike

                            Hi Mike,

Harris wrote 'The Murders and the Medium' I'm fairly certain for 'The Unexplained' part work. I've only got the pages now and it starts on page 2438 of the ones I have and I thought he used that as a chapter in 'Sorry you've been duped' I haven't got it now and it's been over twenty years since I read it so I could be wrong.

Found it Rob, Cheers. Volumne 8, Issue 122, pages 2421 to 2440, with the Peter Sutcliffe section begining, as you rightly point out, at page 2438.

All the material regarding the ripper in the magazine seems to be by Francis King, who also covered black magic, Crowley, and Blavatsky.
                              Regards Mike
