Yes, it does seem unlikely that if an escaped primate with a knife in hand was on the rampage that every one of its victims would be a prostitute.

    Re-read your Poe carefully

I am quite sure that it wasn't the escaped monkey. The Rue Morgue murderer used a different MO and had been caught and was well locked up in 1888.

Macnaghten is the most ridiculous, Barnardo the most boring.

The Elephant Man for certain. I don't think there are any suspects less plausable than he.

The cowboys in Bill's Wild West Show, George Hutchinson, Robert Mann, Seargent Thick, Seargent York ( just kidding- he was too young). Anyway, if you read Sherlock Holmes, it had to be professor Moriarity, no doubt in my mind.

Buffalo Bill came to Hull once and was kicked out of the Royal Station Hotel because he refused to remove his skins and his weapons! He stayed at the Manchester Arms instead!

Coincidently, Queen Victoria, Prince Eddy, Prince Albert Victor, and Frederick Bailey Deeming had all been guests in the Royal Station Hotel over the years! I guess it was something they were putting in the water!

Therefore people dressed in certain ways or looking very diffferent to the usual inhabitants of the East End would have stood out like sore thumbs and been noteworthy.

Charles Gordon.....Not really killed by the Dervishes, but driven mad by his escape through the searing sun of the Sudanese desert....rescued,and returned to England, commited to an asylum under an assumed name with the connivence of his Army friend Warren............Just made that up,but I've heard more far-fetched............
