    Interesting.

I've got nothing against his one leg - trouble is, neither had he.

    Apologies to Pete & Dud.

He scores over a suspect with no legs at all - by 100%.

But he's still out on a limb.

He really needs to grow another foot.

Then the theory might have legs.

As it is, he's got us all stumped. One fact I can add, though, is that despite his name, Carnac was actually a Japanese general. The women of Whitechapel were thus menaced by a sawn-off Shogun.

            Yes Graham,

Speaking of mono ambulators he, James Carnac, probably lost the other one in the South African War or the Big Show which followed in 1914.

No doubt he was hopping his JTR memoir would pay for his train fare up to London from Sussex so he could go to the BBC to apply for the part of Tarzan in the new JTR series.?

            What?

Isn't Tarzan a suspect? Oh dear!

Looks like bad jokes are overwheming a serious "James Carnac memoirs" thread.

            Hop it!

              Rivett-Carmac

Re Claud James Rivett-Carmac born 1878

While doing military research, I found an interesting article in the digitized Calgary Herald. I began googling his name and came across this webpage.

You may find out what happened to Claud by going to this address:
              //ourfutureourpast.ca/newspapr/np_page2.asp?code=n4ip0611.jpg

You will see that he was killed at the front in 1916 while serving in a Canadian regiment.

Excuse me that I can't do the link. Excuse: I'm 81.

Hmm. That cover illustration appears to show a man with one and a half legs...

                              Actually, very perceptively observed, Chris.
