From a Telluride, Colorado paper, dated November 24, 1898:
"Jack the Ripper in Amsterdam . Amsterdam , Nov . 24 . —Two women were _stabbed here last night under most mysterious circumstances . The bodies were found horribly cut and mutilated . The work resembles that of the famous Jack the Ripper murders in the White Chappel district of London several years ago . There have been four other cases of stabbing under similar circumstances here recently , and the inhabitants are fearful lest The Ripper has crossed the channel and begun operations in this city."
Presumably not actually Jack, if Scotland Yard is to be believed about the maniac being dead or confined, but an interesting example of how his exploits were known and had influence elsewhere in the world, even ten years on from Whitechapel.
