Israel Lipski's murder of Miriam Angel

Thank you for posting this Mr Twibbs. I've read the Trial of Israel Lipski and was always taken by the apparent connections to the double murder by JTR on Sept 30. It's also interesting that Miriam Angels body was similar to the body posing by JTR. Coincidence? I dont believe so. It makes me wonder who Miriam Angels neighbor Mrs Levy was, and if she was related to Jacob Levy and Joseph Hyam Levy. Mrs Levy was out shopping that morning on Middlesex Street ( Petticoat Lane). If JTR had strong feelings about Israel Lipskis innocence ( back then there appeared to be many who felt Lipski was innocent and the confession coerced?) Then the target of Stride so close to Batty Street and the Goulston Street grafitto might make more sense. Ironic that Jacob Levy faced the same Gentile justice system with the same lousy barrister involved. Blamed for nothing or blamed for murder?
Was Strides killer making a statement by calling out Lipski?
I believe there is an avenue for more exploration here.

Hi c.d...I was considering shouting out Lipski as possibly meaning the perpetrator, as a Jew, telling a fellow Jew that this is " for Lipski". And this in turn would possibly make the Goulston Street grafitto make more sense. The Jews will be blamed for something...instead of nothing.
in this case the Ripper murders. Is this a stretch?
Many Jews believed Lipski was innocent. Partly because of their belief that the Justice System was run by Gentiles and stacked against them. I would argue motive against Authority here as the meaning behind the grafitto. Anger is a motive. I dont believe the Ripper was just any killer targeting Prostitutes for syphilis infection. There had to be more calculation in my mind.

Hi Patrick,
We do have documented evidence of a Jew calling another Jew ‘Lipski.’Herlock Sholmes

I picked up The Trials of Israel Lipski by Martin Friedland at a book sale a few months ago, and it has come up in my reading cue. However, I have the 1st American edition (1984, Beaufort Books hc), which does NOT have the endpapers map. Does anyone have an edition with the map that they can post here?

There’s good news and bad news. Good news - I have the book with the map. Bad news - I have all the tech skills of your average Neanderthal man. I’ll post the map on here but no doubt it will end up a total blur when you come to try and look at it. If this is the case you can pm me with your email and I’ll send the picture in an email or, failing that, I can email it to someone like Geddy who will, no doubt be able to post it on here in readable form. Here goes…
A problem which occurred a while ago too. When I click on Select from Photo Album instead of going to my own photo album what comes up is the pictures that I’ve previously posted on here. Sorry.Herlock Sholmes

I’ve asked Geddy to post it but I really don’t think that it will be good enough quality.Herlock Sholmes

I wonder if it’s worth taking a picture of each page separately? I’ll try that tomorrow if you don’t mind. I’m not at home at the moment so I don’t have the book with me.Last edited by Herlock Sholmes; Today, 06:59 PM.Herlock Sholmes
