I don't know if this story is getting a lot of play outside Canada but Col. Russell Williams, a high-ranking Canadian military commander, has been
charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of two women from eastern Ontario. He was also charged with forcible confinement, breaking and entering, and sexual assault in relation to two home invasions in September 2009. Police in other parts of the country where Col. Williams has been stationed are examining their cold-case files to see if he can be linked to any other unsolved murders.
What's interesting about this guy (who, of course, has yet be proven guilty) is that he was obviously functioning at a very high level for a considerable period of time and was apparently happily married for twenty years. Not the typical profile of a serial killer.
