    The Stratford Ripper

I recently visited Stratford Upon Avon and one of the museums, The Museum of Witchcraft. It is set in a very old building which was formerly a pub named the White Hart Inn. The museum featured a expedition on a series of murders that took place at the inn, committed by someone referred to as 'The Stratford Ripper'. One of his victims, a prostitute named Annie, had her throat cut and was ripped open. This took place on November 9, 1788, exactly 100 years to the day that Mary Kelly died in 1888.

Ive done a Google search and cannot seem to find anything on this unsolved serial killer case.
    Best regards,
    Adam

    Adam,

I was there last month and saw the same thing. That shop isnt far from ol Willies birthplace isnt it?

As far as I can tell its fictional, designed to lure the odd plaid wearing American or Nikkon humpbacked Asian.

    Preying on the tourist.

Yeah thats the one. So the whole thing is probably fictional. They have made a lot of effort to get in the tourists. The museum guide bleated on for half hour about the supposed murders. Thanks for the info Monty.

      Adam

Weird that they would just invent the whole thing! Still, like you said, guess it attracts the tourists..

Stratford upon Avon lays claim to one infamous murder. A woman was found in the river near the churchyard with a grave stone around her to weight her down.

I believe the murder took place circa the 40's early fifties. It came about the woman was a nyphomanic, and many serviceman, from a nearby Army barracks. were interviewed, and I think there was one suspect. Unsolved I believe.

Born and bred near Stratford, I have never heard of a Stratford Ripper!!
