    • The weirdest thing that's happened in the last 24 hours is Ted Cruz announcing his choice for VP! Is this bloke hoping and praying for a brokered Convention or what!

      • And Don's going to destroy ISIS, like no one else is trying.

Don't you know nobody else counts at all in the Donald Trump view of the universe (though he'll sometimes give lip service to God - for voter approval, of course, only)? He's going to restore his idea of "greatness" to America even if the rest of us are left paying for it when his time in the sun ends. He'll make even good allies hate us. And I hope Mexicans blow that wall up on top of him.

Why nobody with really huge fortunes, like the Koch Brothers, didn't smash this guy last fall on the Stock Exchange I can't tell. Had they started to do so, he would have heard the threatening message of doom in the one way he knows of (financial failure translate to general failure) and would have quickly bowed out of the whole process of running.

Heard an interview with ex PM of Australia (John Howard) about as right wing as you can get. He was asked what he thought about the possibility of Trump as President, his response "I hope not".

            Mmmmm from John.

Trump's not right-wing, really. He's a nationalist, an old-school Jingo who understands that America's interests come first. He's exactly the sort of President that I want, and exactly the sort of President that I think America needs. And so far as stopping ISIS, I don't see how he can help but to do better than has been done to date.

              • I'm not sure what's scarier... Trump, or the people who think he's Presidential material.

                • Cruz seems to be pinning all his rapidly fading hopes on a good result for him in Indiana, leading to a brokered Convention. I can't see it, myself, though the run up to both Conventions are going to be interesting. Is Hilary going to be fighting criminal charges, is Bernie going to get his points across about money in politics, is there going to be blood on the dance floor at the GOP Convention? You can't say this election hasn't been interesting!

Just a couple of questions from one of your neighbours up North (Canada, just in case you didn't know we existed).

                    1. You said : 'he understands that America's interests come first'. Compared to whose other interests America has ever prefered?
                    2. You also said: 'he's exactly the sort of President that I think America needs. 'What sort of President does America exactly need and that has not been adressed by all the previous presidents?

That's it Hercule.....now we are building a wall on your border... it's gonna be a great wall... and Canada is gonna pay for it, trust me....

In all reality, Trump is playing the Regan card... when Regan ran it was about how big Merica's balls were, Carter said we have to conserve and be responsible.. and Cowboy Ronnie rode in to town giving the people what they wanted to hear.. America is the best, the biggest, the strongest... no room for Debbie Downers here... and poof...now 35 years later in rides the Donald....taking about how tough we are, and the like.. taps into what people want to hear... same thing with Bernie on the left... " college will be free, you are all perfect people.. blah blah blah.. never mind neither could do any of what they say...it's just what people want to hear.. and it works.
In America NOBODY could run saying..look, times are hard, we are involved in wars we can't afford, so lets all sacrifice like our grandparents did... NO WAY....WE WANT EVERYTHING....so Bernie tells college kids they are all special little snowflakes who will get everything handed to them... Trump says... if you don't like us we'll kick you in the balls....Cruz would tell you the sky is green if he thought you may vote for him and Hillary... she is so deep in the actual political game she can play all sides of it.....
As a life long Democrat (I want to put that out so I can't just be accused of being a "hater") the one person who I have wanted, most of my adult life, to be President of the Unites States is a Republican!!! General Colin Powell I believe would have been a great Pres....and seriously people.... ask yourselves...are ANY of the people running now even in the same league with General Powell?

                      • P.S Hercule...

I was once at a hockey game (international Jr's when it was held here in Buffalo) and a group of Canadians were sitting behind me....and we were playful back and forth all game.. nothing serious or anger driven.. more playful ribbing......it was a USA v CANADA game.. and one of the Canadians said " you know, America, that country "beneath" us".. to which my brother responded " you know Canada that country that America has been "holding up" all these years"... even they ( the Canadians) laughed at that.. then we all had a beer together

                        • If his momentum continues, Trump will probably be a pretty good president and all the alarmists can wring out their crying towels.
This my opinion and to the best of my knowledge, that is, if I'm not joking.

In all honesty Steadmund, NO! I watched 17 candidates for the Republican nomination this past year, and the leading one is a loud mouthed boob who will really hurt this country if he becomes President. The Democrats produced two candidates for the nomination: a skillful female politician and former First Lady I find as trustworthy as a rattlesnake, and an elderly Socialist (by American standards) who I would not having at a dinner party as a guest, but whose policies are probably ruinous to the economy. In the primary last voted for the Socialist because I can't stand the lady, but as she will be probably running against the loud mouthed boob I will probably end up voting for her.

I have seen Colin Powell at a book signing a few years back, and he was an interesting speaker. He probably would make a decent President, but he never wanted the job.

I think we are rapidly approaching the point where anyone who would in fact make a decent president is smart enough not to want the job.

I hope he does it. Just for the ensuing meltdown among the fannies around the world who think it matters one iota.

If anyone out there can get me a postal vote, as a non US citizen, then please do as I'll vote for Mr Trump with some serious zest.

I may even create: "the English Trump league" if it will piss off these people who poke their noses into people's business that has nothing to do with them.
