    School Zones are federal law since 1990, the law had adjustments applied in 2000. The minimum zone is currently 1000 feet from the doors of the school, but that can be lessened depending on surrounding properties as I recall.
    I’m often irrelevant. It confuses people.

      Here`s a recent story to put the this one eyed Southern family to shame, not that they`d be smart enough to realise it.

      Leopard runs loose around a school in India, attacking a number of people.
      What do the Indians do ? They tranquilise it and move it to a national park.

      Well done India and shame on you know who you are.
      A male leopard enters a school in the Indian city of Bangalore, injuring six people before being captured and released.

        That's typically how bears in human areas are handled out here in Colorado, too.

        I've read that many species of big cats all over the world seem to have lost their natural fear of humans, and are approaching much closer to inhabited areas than they have before. Some scientists theorize it is due to their preying on dogs, of all things. The article about the leopard blamed human encroachment on wild areas, but that may be only part of the problem.

          You seem to be misunderstanding. It is all about the huge increase in human population. It`s not that the animals are approaching "human areas", it`s that "human areas" encroach into where the animals are.

            That is definitely a large part of it, but distemper in Wild carnivores, making them more unpredictable, as well as vulnerable to the disease without vaccination, is also contributing to encounters like this.

              Yes, it is a concern, but my point is that say great white sharks became completely insane, carrying firearms as if it`s a god given right, it would not concern me as I don`t live anywhere near great white populations.

                That's why I live in Colorado-- those Texans are nuts! {Note to Texans: That's a joke!}
                Okay, point is taken, Jon. Thanks...
