Washington, D.C. in Bullseye of Potentially Historic Blizzard

Well it looks like ole c.d. and all the other residents of Washington, D.C. are facing a historic blizzard beginning Friday afternoon and continuing into Sunday morning. Forecasters are calling for anywhere from 18 to 24 inches of snow and possibly more along with wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour. D.C. is a city that freaks out over six inches of snow so this should be interesting. It should basically shut the city down. 50 million people along the east coast of the U.S. could be affected.

My refrigerator is stocked with beer (first things first) and I have plenty of food and snacks. I also have a number of programs to watch on my DVR (one of the great inventions) and a new book, "The Boys in the Boat" which is about the U.S rowing team at the 1936 Olympics in Munich and has over 16,000 reviews on Amazon. My computer appears to be running normally so I should be able to look at porn which is always a plus.

So there you have it. I will be hunkered down all weekend just trying to stay safe and warm. Hope everyone gets through it ok.

An inch or so here so far. I haven't ventured out to investigate the depth yet. Still coming down, very fine flakes. Got plenty of coffee, cigs, and cat food, so we're good. It'll all probably be gone in a couple of days. Snow usually doesn't last long in this neck of the woods.

That would be so interesting, and except for the victim, good fun! Perhaps you could be snowed in for a week and have a couple of bodies! Everybody playing amateur detective and sifting the clues. Just have plenty of food and drink on hand!

Well it is 6 inches of snow in Nashville, with about an inch of black ice under that, and it's still snowing, so it goes without saying I'm not getting home tonight.

I admit. I doubted. I never thought it would snow like this. Maybe an inch with some ice, which I can handle (even if most people here turn into bumper car driving fools). But this is ridiculous. I can't even get out of my mother's driveway, my car is plowing the snow up to block access to the street.

I'm so freakin bored, and all I brought for my visit were converse sneakers, so I can't even walk to the store. Just stare at it longingly, teasing me from down the street.

I'm going to end up gnawing off my own hand.

It's really coming down now and what is amazing is that the worst of the storm is expected tomorrow and should last into Sunday morning.

More than 85 million people — roughly one in every four Americans — in at least 20 states Friday were under blizzard, winter storm or freezing rain warnings from Arkansas to the Carolinas to New York City and extreme southern New England, according to Weather.com.

"Strong winds will combine with heavy snow to produce life-threatening blizzard conditions across portions of the Mid-Atlantic Friday night and Saturday," the National Weather Service warned in an online forecast.

No seriously I hope y'all are squared away. I think part of the problem with the news trying to sensationalize every little thing, is people get so many "It's going to be the blizzard of the century" false alerts that they start ignoring them. And then this happens.

Stay warm. I hope those who don't have homes have all found shelter somewhere. This weekend is going to suck.
