  • I Am Pretty Disappointed in My Fellow Casebook Members

When I posted the thread entitled "Please Read This - It's a Chance to Do a Good Deed at Christmastime" I assumed that there would be hundreds of responses saying my card for this little girl is in the mail. To my absolute amazement even though apparently 127 people took the time to read the post only 3 people responded. So either a hell of a lot of people read that article and decided that simply sending the poor kid a Christmas card was just a little too much trouble or you sent cards and simply didn't post. Now I know that there are a ton of worthy causes to give to at this time and we all have limited funds but this girl simply wanted a Christmas card. I mean come on guys.

Yes, yes, I know I am probably coming off as holier than thou but I am pretty pissed about this. Please tell me that you sent this girl a card and I will issue an apology to all who did so.

For anyone worried this is another hoax, as sometimes pop up on the Internet (see Snopes.com for examples), I did see a story on the news about Saffyre, and the outpouring of mail she has received.

My husband and I sent her a card a couple of weeks ago. I really do hope she has a terrific Christmas. I have a feeling seeing the story on all the stuff she is getting it will be a great one. Wishing everyone on here a very Merry Christmas as well.

You posted a story that had been viral for days. What needs to be said about it after the address was posted? Why would anyone think they would have to keep you in the loop if they sent a card? I read the post but do not recall you asking to be notified if any were sent. If you did I still wouldn't tell you that I had. My sending one would be for no reason other than to give the kid a bit of whatever she gets out of them, not to make a display of it.
I understand the frustration you're expressing. I sympathize with it. I do a fair amount of volunteer and fundraising during the year and I know the frustration when it feels like your shouting to a packed stadium full of people ignoring you too well. I am just not a fan of calling people out in situations like that (though I might raise more if I did).
I’m often irrelevant. It confuses people.

Ok. I have been duly and (probably appropriately) chastised for my post. Her story affected me strongly and I guess I went a bit off the deep end as a result. My apologies to all.

Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas.
