Facebook and Twitter update their apps twice a month. Sorry, but I don't have time to learn the new things, it was fine as it was 5 years ago.

New operating system every other year? I don't have time for that, yet, if I want to keep using my devices, I need to keep up otherwise support won't be available anymore.

    That and programmed obsolescence.
I agree Sir John. My collections of VCR tapes, of music casettes, of records show that there is too much push to "improve everything". Basically it is the greed of the manufacturers and their fellows that do this - to keep up we have to pay for everything again and again and again.

If we could do it, the world needs a 100 year stoppage of machine improvement and computer improvement. The only things not touched are anti-hacking and anti-malware improvements (with a corresponding increase, around the globe, of legal attack on the hackers), and continued improvement in energy saving devices, medical devices, and anti-pollution activity. Otherwise it ends for a century. We'd all be happier, except for the fat cats.

I still remember the absolute sh*t storm I created a few years ago on these boards when I politely suggested that posters should at least make a reasonable attempt at correct spelling and grammar and that posts written in text-speak were bad.

I often see people leave their trash on a bench when a garbage can is plainly visible just a few feet away. I guess it requires a little too much effort.

There are two ways to be fooled, one is to believe what isn't true, the other is to refuse to believe that which is true.

I don't so much object to the new technology as the failure to continue to support the old.

                Some music I have on

                Record
                Reel to reel
                8Track
                Cassette
                Mini disk
                CD
                MP 3

Of course now it's the same with computers, XP was the best OS in years, no longer supported, 8 a joke, still getting to grips with 10.

Vinyl is still being produced, though. It's having something of a renaissance, though digital downloads still constitute the biggest part of the market by far.
