I don't mind a bit of boxing myself, as a spectator!
Gridiron,Yes, boring and slooow!
As for the Lions, speaking as someone who was a Fitzroy supporter when I first settled in Melbourne, better that the club continued on in watered down form in Queensland than disappear altogether. However, only my daughter supports the Brisbane Lions now. The rest of the family moved on to Richmond.Last edited by Rosella; 07-07-2015, 11:16 PM.

I am not a convert from American football, which I enjoy, but not as much as Footy... American football can be VERY boring....I came into AFL many many years ago when a very young cable network called ESPN played games from around the world that were cheap to buy the rights to in America ( ESPN was not always a MAJOR force in sports) AFL use to run at around the 2 or 3 AM hours.. and I worked a second shift so it was prime time for me....anyway.. I started watching this fast, crazy hard hitting game.. and fell in love... it took me a few years to understand it....but the more I learned the more I loved...now it is my 3rd favorite sport... As GUT said, Boxing is my #1 (and the sport I spent many years working in), Baseball is my second love... I grew up with it.. it was ingrained in me at a young age... and now Footy... GO LIONS... and yes my boys are gonna be tasting that wooden spoon... but wasn't that long ago they won 3 in a row.. and almost a 4th!!! of course Leigh Matthews was king then.....that's what we need now...
On a sad Footy note : all my thoughts are with the loved ones and fans of Adelaide's Phil Walsh... such a tragic story....from a sporting note I am glad his last game was a victory (even if it was over my LIONS!!).
now bring on Sydney!!!

In the changing demographics of the area more Caribbean African immigrants moved into the are, and they brought the game. Quite genteel certainly, but it requires real patience to watch. Also I needed a deck chair and a scone and did not have any.
