    • I just finished Story Of A Murderer by Halle Rubenhold and I have to give it a big thumbs up. I do have to point out that I know little about the case except for what most people with a general interest in true crime so I’m no judge of the accuracy of her research but it certainly appears to have been well researched. It was well written and an interesting to read and the author certainly gives plenty of background detail without being boring. It’s interesting how Belle Elmore posthumously gained such a terrible reputation. Stereotypes played into it of course with Belle portrayed as the domineering (manlike) unfaithful harridan and Ethel as the innocent maiden duped by the moustache-twirling villain Crippen Did Ethel Le Neve know what had happened to Belle? It’s difficult to see how she couldn’t have without accepting the ‘extreme naiveté’ defence.

This book, to me, smacks of being the ‘last word on the case.’ Though with such a famous case it’s unlikely to be.
      Regards

      Sir Herlock Sholmes.

We are taking the rare public announcement to state that we have received a/some Report Post/s, on the above post. The issue we are having, is that the nature of the personal attack is not inherently obvious to us and the affront as seen from the Reporter's point of view is not outlined. So our question is.... what is the perceived insult in the above question? Wherein lies the offense? We need it explained. So if you have a particular take on the above line, feel free to weigh in to our PM box, so we can judge the perceived question, beyond the question. Thanks.

                • Thanks to the various people who took the time to explain their perspectives. Here is ours.

Below is an actual rule as stated in the Rules section, that no one actually ever bothers to read or follow, so why we wasted hours of our life drafting the ******* thing, we don't know:

In addition, often times people will promote themselves as an "expert" in a given area. If someone promotes themselves as an expert then their credentials and experience are up for fair criticism.

Also from the rules, that no one actually ever bothers to read or follow:

                  6. Don't write here like you text your friends. We require basic rules of punctuation and grammar be adhered to. A post that says "IMHO, I don't think that's accurate." is fine. a post ware their be no comas periods capitols or like basic attempts at being legible aint

                  Also from the rules section:

If you report a post (especially one that is personally hostile towards you) and you have REPLIED to it, we will penalize you as well for wasting our time. That increases the work we have to do to clean up the thread. If there is a post that has to be deleted, and you have responded to it and carried on a discussion in the meantime, you have substantially increased the amount of work we will have to do to clean up the thread. Report the post, then ignore the post.

And finally, again, also already explicitly ******* written in the goddamn rules section:

We also do not particularly care what occurs in Pub Talk (unless especially egregious such as threats, etc.)

Apply all the given context and newly acquired knowledge to the above situation. You have all wasted hours of my life on this bullshit. It is clear that some of you don't like some of others of you. Guess what? That's life. You don't have to TALK To people you don't like. It's real easy. Stop being petulant little shits, grow the **** up, and go play with other children that you like better.

You don't have TO respond to every person that ******* irritates you. There is a handy little "ignore" feature on the forums. If you aren't grown up enough to not be a snide little **** because someone irritates the ever loving piss out of you, then I encourage you to use the ignore feature. Use it.

Now go outside and touch grass and breathe fresh air. Because all y'all need it.

I would like to lodge a complaint against Scott Nelson for failure to use the Oxford Comma. Punctuation, indeed!
