Amen Abby, I've listened to him since I was just a kid (53 now)...This hits the same as when Dio passed...

First Ronnie Dio, then Lemmie and now Ozzy. I grew up listening to them all. I live not far from where Ozzy was born and a few weeks ago me and friend drove past an old pub where Sabbath used to play or rehearse. I was having a meal in a pub last night when my brother texted me with the news.

If there is a heaven I hope that they have a well stocked bar.

      RIP Ozzy.

        RIP Ozzy!!

Am so glad he went out on a high though.

Diary of a Mad Man was one of the first albums I bought as a child!

        (I was a strange kid!!!).

You? A strange kid? Nah… more like dangerously cool. 'Diary of a Madman' as a first album.. You just became ten times more intriguing. I would’ve 100% followed you around the playground hoping you'd notice me.

Now I have to know.. was the rest of your childhood playlist just as delightfully unhinged?

Ha! If I recall correctly the FIRST album I bought with my pocket money was actually Off The Bone by The Cramps.

I think Diary of a Mad Man was picked up at a car boot sale with my mum a year or two later (probably much to her amusement).

I'd have been far too busy reading Agatha Christie and hanging out with my cat to notice any boys at that age!!

When I was about your age then, I saved my pocket money for weeks to buy a cassette. Walked into this tiny music shop that smelled like cardboard sleeves and dust. I was headed straight for something safe.. probably whatever my friends were bragging about.. when I noticed this girl at the counter trading coins for a stack of the good stuff, one cracked case punk thing, something with a skull, and I swear a record the clerk called 'pretty twisted' I froze. Didn’t say a word. Went home with the safe choice… and spent the week wishing I’d had the nerve to ask what she was listening to.

Reading you say your first buy was Off The Bone and that Diary of a Madman came from a car boot trip .. That mystery record shop girl finally has a face in my head.. headphones, Agatha Christie in one hand, cat plotting world domination in the other, absolutely oblivious to any boy within fifty feet.
