I think that I am buying a lock up on gumtree. Well, thought I was, I put down £500 deposit for a £4000 garage - a song in these parts but still pricey if you’re on my wages - then seller asked me to go through a lawyer to make his lawyer - who holds the keys and deeds an offer for it at the price our gumtree emails agreed.
This seems a bit of a travail to go through - can’t he just sell me the thing? Will I be making a fool of myself asking my family’s lawyers to get involved in the way the seller asks?
And can I get my deposit back if I think this is a bit too messy to go any further?
