    Fisherman,

We've a trip coming up to Scandinavia for a few weeks July/August. Any chance you can offer some guidance?

It might help to say we like history and architecture.

All we have pencilled in at the moment is Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Fjords in Norway.

Any advice? Places to go etc?

I think you're Swedish and we're thinking of stopping off at Gothenburg on the way to Copenhagen - does it sound like a good idea based upon what we like?

Also, we have to drive to the fjords from Oslo and we're going to the one nearest Oslo about a five hour drive - do the roads go into the mountains, sheer drop? I'm not great with heights.

And, I've heard it's expensive. Does this include corner shops and supermarkets and the like.

And, we both love food, so are there any local delights we should try?

And, which is the best place for Viking history?

And, we get Wallander over here which is spot on - where is Ystad? Is it a real place?

    Many thanks.

I believe Uppsala (sp?) university has some remarkable old books that should be seen. Fish can inform you better, but I remember it is the oldest university in Sweden and ultra famous scholar Carolus Linnaeus lived and studied there and some of his boks (15th century) may survive there. I imagine it would be a wonderful trip.
