I have heard the legends of the Pliocene Clams! They fill me full of dread and terror. To dismiss out of hand such serious claims of the continued existence of these creatures - especially with the dubious "scientific explanations" the Smithsonian offers here - does a disservice to both Science and the critical thinking measures Science "claims" it employs. I fear that when more remains of victims of the Pliocene Clams turn up, only then will Science take it seriously!!
