If this kind of music is your thing, I can recommend Ken Burns' wonderful 9 part documentary "Country Music.

It's one of the best things I've ever seen.

Hear the remarkable stories of the people and places behind a truly American art form.

I’m not a massive C&W fan Barn but I do like some of it. I’ve seen the Ken Burns series though and you’re right, it’s great. Every Ken Burns series that I’ve seen has been brilliant. I loved the one on Jazz too but my favourite is the one on the American Civil War which would easily make my top 5 documentary series ever. Possibly number one.

Hi Herlock, I've got the civil war documentary recorded., going to start on it tonight.

Re the country music documentary, at the end of the series I felt that I had a greater understanding of America than I had before I started.

I remember watching the Ken Burn civil war documentary when it first aired many years ago now . I have the book and music c.d ,and yes for me its probably the best made documentary I've seen .

Made even more remarkable, I think Ken burns and his brother were only 19 years old at the time the wrote and produced it.

I agree with you Barn, its a real eye opener. I felt the same way , still do.

Yeah me to Barn. It made me realise how important it was and how passionate people are about it.

I didn’t know that they were only 19 Fishy. That’s quite an achievement.

Hi Herlock . My apologies , For some reason I remember reading that was the case and it stuck in my memory all this time . But upon doing some research I've found that not at all true .Ken Burns was born in 1953 and the Civil War went to air in 1990 ( it did however take five years to complete, making it 1985 when he would have started the project. ) making him 32 . At guess, maybe he had a fascinating with the war that begun at an early age that led to his production later in life , but thats my best guess .

                        Again my apologies.
