  • Prince Eddy (TV Programme Tonight)

On Yesterday+1 at 8pm tonight (Monday 18th November 2013) is a TV Programme entitled:

"Prince Eddy: The King We Never Had"

Might be quite interesting - apologies for late posting but only just noticed it.

Sky 538 - not sure about Freeview or Virgin Channel Number

I won't always agree but I'll try not to be disagreeable.

Watched something about the Kaiser last night. Apparently they used to trap hares, cut them down the middle and wrap the hare round his arm with blood dripping all over him. All with the goal of sorting out his gammy arm. Only a hundred years back. Now that is a right old wives' tale.

Also watched the French invasion of England in the 1200s - Dover Castle.

And watched a programme about a South Philadelphia mob called the Young Turks. As you can imagine it ended with almost everyone getting shot and the survivors detained in the nick.

In that context, the real Jack the Ripper pales into insignificance! Hope they showed the archive footage where Sir William Gull goes on the rampage with a pair of scissors and a hopeless side kick.

It mentioned JtR, but only as part of a process of explaining how his good name has been gradually tarnished. It was quite a balanced account I thought, and suggested that he was far from being the dullard of history. I recommend a viewing if it comes on again.

        Hello Colin,

It may be of some interest to know, for some, that a certain female princess in the Victorian era. very much related to Eddy, has quite a past too, involving a purported illegitimate child... and her files are considered so damaging, the Royal archives are closed to all callers in her particular case. Recently a book was published investigating the whole thing, and the Royal archives still remained closed.

Another married a homosexual, another was addicted to various drugs including laudenum.

They really were a rum lot.
