This happened recently in my county in Colorado. Three 18 year old boys, two white, one Asian, went on a pointless spree last weekend, tossing "landscaping rocks" at passing cars. They did this six times, but the last random driver targeted died when a large rock went through her windshield and she lost control.
Because the 20-year-old woman was talking on her cell phone, the person on the other end called for help quickly. Police used "cellphone forensics" to find which other phones were active in the area of her vehicle, tracked down and arrested the boys. They've been charged with "murder with indifference."
The odd thing is that two went to different high schools and the third was enrolled in an online school. Presumably they met each other via social media, but details aren't clear yet. They look like young thugs, and will likely only get worse.
No, let's not ban landscaping rocks, which I'm sure someone will suggest on here, knowing you folks.
