    That's precisely what is going on in many southern states in the U.S. Many of those same states took up arms against the government over a 150+ years ago over "the right to choose" - that's how the Civil War started off.
    Today, those same states are now trying to deny women "the right to choose" control over their own body in denying them the right to abortion. Much of this is driven by the church also.

      yup and midwestern states too. I gave up any vestige of leaning conservative/republican when the stupid SC overturned Roe v wade. madness.

Maybe God was upset at the results of the recent Super Bowl or that the price of hog bellies has declined in Iowa. But they always seem to know with absolute certainty the mind of God.

        It's a technique known as "proof texting". You decide what you think and then search scripture for an extract which (in or out of context - it doesn't matter) appears to show that God agrees with you. It probably shows nothing of the kind but that doesn't matter if your audience knows less than you do.
        I won't always agree but I'll try not to be disagreeable.
