  • Blame LGBTQ People for Turkey-Syria Earthquake Aftershocks Says Top Israeli Rabbi

The tremors felt in Israel as part of the devastating earthquake that rocked Turkey and Syria are the outcome of the rise in rights and freedoms for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGTBTQ+) people... This bizarre logic has been put forth by Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem Shlomo Amar. Amar, who was formerly the Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel, made the remarks during his weekly lesson. I’m not a religious man c.d but decent religious people everywhere would cringe at comments like this. We’ve heard it before of course from Bronze Age representatives of all religions. You tend to wonder why none of the known gay areas in various parts of the world don’t suffer earthquakes? I know for example that Abby is a religious man but none of us need to bother asking him whether he would endorse this throwback’s pronouncement or not. The vast majority of Jews across the world would probably shed few tears if the earth did open up and swallow this clown.

      Hello Herlock,

It's interesting that the very thing that these religious people hate is always exactly the same thing that God hates. But do we know that for sure? Maybe God was upset at the results of the recent Super Bowl or that the price of hog bellies has declined in Iowa. But they always seem to know with absolute certainty the mind of God.

        Hi c.d.

Not exactly modesty is it? They’re ‘in-the-know’ but the religious person sitting next to them, who has absolutely no problem at all with LGBTQ people, is somehow tuned into the wrong Chanel.

thanks Herlock and absolutely youre absolutely right. Its a horrible and ignorant thing for the rabbi to say. One of the reasons I joined my church is because its the more progressive branch of the episcopalian church, and we have much diversity and inclusiveness , including openly gay couples and female/married priests.

            I often think it's a repression thing.

People who are perfectly comfortable with their own sexuality rarely feel the need to denigrate others whose orientation differs.

That guy should lose the beard, replace it with a nice Tom of Finland style moustache and just and go for it!

I remember this sort of thing when AIDS first appeared. Of course all the haemophiliacs and blood transfusion infected people must have been collateral damage.

                        Hello Herlock,

Now that you know just be sure you don't confuse Tom of Finland with Tom's of Maine which is a very popular toothpaste here in the U.S. Many an embarrassing situation has resulted from getting the two mixed up.

I’ve had far too sheltered an upbringing to know about those kind of things Ms D
