I totally agree with Morgan on this one. A pathetic whining, woe-is-me little s**t. He and Meghan just wanted to be a Posh and Becks style ‘celebrity’ royal couple without actually doing anything that inconvenienced their lifestyle. I think Charles should completely disown both of them; stripping them of all titles. I predict that they’ll be divorced within 3 years. He persists in throwing out accusations but he knows that the RF won’t respond in public so it’s just a cheap publicity shot which is about the level to be expected from this pair. Edward and Wallis Simpson and now these two.

You see, I'm so ambivalent about the royal family that I just can't muster up this kind of ire about any of them.

I regard both camps in this debate with complete indifference.

Yeah, there's a load of self indulgent whining going on, but if push came to shove I'd probably still rather go for a pint with Harry than his stuffed shirt of an older brother.

Wills would bore one to tears!

Truth be told, I was much more perturbed by your statement "I totally agree with Morgan".

Now, as a general thing, that sent a shiver down my spine!!

When I was younger I was fairly ambivalent about the RF too but I see so much of our history being trashed and so much of the modern world that I genuinely loathe (yes, I know…grumpy old [or older] man syndrome) that I find myself feeling more defensive against at least some of our institutions (certainly not all). Harry appears to represent this modern world to a great extent with his non-stop bleating. Using the media, who he apparently hates, to gain some kind of popularity knowing full well that the Royal Family won’t respond. It’s cowardly. And then we have this baffling and never-ending attempt at turning Diana in to some kind of saint. Really? Charles was unfaithful with one woman certainly. Diana was linked to a veritable football team of men but no one mentions this. It’s permanently one-sided. The RF needs pruning and I’d start with this vacuous, waste-of-space pair.

I don’t think I could be in the same room as Harry to be honest Ms D. I’d be too temped to punch the self-obsessed, time wasting ginger kn**head.

Hope you had a good Christmas btw?

Don’t want the attention, but give us attention. Funny really.

To paraphrase Samuel Butler, ‘It was very good of God to let Harry and Meghan marry one another, and so make only two people miserable and not four.’
Why a four-year-old child could understand this report! Run out and find me a four-year-old child, I can't make head or tail of it.

I think that sums it up pretty well GUT. Media attention for the well known is hardly a surprise so I can’t see why they feel that they were being picked on? It was William’s mother that died too after all and he and Kate get just as much media attention but he just gets on with it (and he has more duties and expectations than Harry does). Someone said recently that “William could have an absolute field day if he decided to tell all that he knows about Harry and Meghan,” but he won’t of course.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

I always had a lot of sympathy for Harry when he was young. Not just because he lost his beloved mum like that, but also because the press was so keen to paint him as a troublemaker.

Later on he began to really shine with his work with the Invictus Games, representing the Queen at numerous important meetings, and generally maturing into a useful young man.

He inherited his mother's down-to-earth ability to chat to people. Folks who met him regularly commented on how genuine he seemed. How jolly. How lovely.

And when he married Meghan, I firmly believe that the general feeling was that they really loved each other and people were happy for him.

If he now wants to step back from the limelight, that is of course his prerogative.

But doing so, then pulling stunts like this where he is trying to garner sympathy, tar his relatives and generally act like a spoilt child... nope, he is too old for that to be excusable now.

I freely admit I am a dyed-in-the-wool royalist. Not the modern "ooh, Princess Diana was SOOO lovely" type. But an old-school believer that it is of benefit to our country. The monarchy provides us with a sense of tradition, pride and community. And they bring in a s**t load of money! As long as foreign visitors want to see them and all that goes with them, we would, imho, be daft to stop that!

According to some organisation called BrandFinance the Royal Family’s contribution to the UK economy in 2017 alone was £1.76 billion.

Well yeah, there are certainly aspects of the modern world that I loathe too, but equally there are many facets of the "good old days" which I deplore even more.

I'd say Harry and Megan are indeed representative of certain modern tropes, but they (and what they represent) aren't the whole story.

Sure, Harry is making an absolute twat of himself right now and it's rather irritating to watch, but personally the whole Prince Andrew / Epstein scandal boiled my blood a lot more.

Ultimately I don't give two figs about the Royal Family (although I did have a begrudging respect for the Her Maj. She seemed quite a good egg).

The whole forelock tugging thing on the basis of inherited status is just plain weird (particularly when we're expected to tug our forelocks at such a messed up, dysfunctional, inbred bunch of freaks)!

If I'm being honest, I'm kind of enjoying watching the sacred cow burn!

Edit: Excellent Christmas thanks! Still recovering from all that festive food and booze now!

Perhaps it’s partly a symptom of getting older that makes me more inclined to be resistant to some of the changes that are occurring in society but I do feel pessimistic for future generations when I note some of these changes that are gradually creeping in and becoming the norm. The die is cast though I’m afraid. Hard earned freedoms are being eroded, appearance is now more important than substance, trial by social media is the norm and many people have lost (or have never had) any conception of debating subjects without hysteria or without abandoning evidence, reason and common sense.

Apart from that I’m quite cheerful.
