  • Tech Question.

When I add a photograph I was advised to email it to myself so that it would be of a file size that could be uploaded. No problem. When I do this it gives size options in red but whatever size I choose I still get a tiny picture in the chat box. Another issue I’ve had in the past is pictures appearing horizontal rather than vertical even though they were vertical to begin with.

How do I get a larger picture when I post it?

How do I correct it if a picture appears horizontally?

    Thanks.
    Regards

    Sir Herlock Sholmes.

Hi Herlock, are you referring to the red options circled on the attached screen shot when you upload?

In any case, no matter what size you choose, after selecting upload attachments, if you place your cursor on the image a re-size option will appear and you will be able to enlarge the photo by dragging on it.

Sorry, I can't help with the alignment issue.

    Regards,
    Gary

      Hi Gary,

Are you talking about the options in red when you talk about re-size options? If so, that’s what I did. I tried ‘large’ first, i still got a small image when it uploaded so I deleted and tried again. This time I clicked ‘full size’ and got the same small image.

I’ll try here. I’ll upload the image and select ‘large.’

      Aha!

Its not great quality but I clicked on the box at the top left corner and a box came up with boxes for height and width. I just tried bigger and bigger sizes. When I clicked width the height box filled automatically. I tried 300 and got this size.

I don’t know why the images have appeared blurred though?

Theres also an alignment part which should mean that I can solve and issues when a picture appears a horizontal.

      Thanks Gary

I’ve just added a recently taken screenshot on another thread and again it was blurred. This is annoying. I clicked on first ‘large’ and increased the size from the box to 300 width. Then I tried ‘large’ and did the same. Still blurred.

That has to do with the quality of the original image you are uploading, and that involves the original image size (very low), dimensions (very small) or the format (not .jpg)

Try another .jpg 600x400 for example

Hello Herlock, seems you have got the system mastered. To clarify what I said earlier, click on upload then select from "icon, small, medium etc". When the image appears then click and drag on the box in the corner of the image to size it as required. The higher the resolution the original you are working from the better. The more the photo is enlarged the more obvious any flaws become. Hope this helps.

              Regards Gazza

                Thanks for your advice Gaz,

Maybe it’s different because I’m using an iPad but when I select ‘large’ or ‘medium’ etc and the image appears I can’t use drag to enlarge it. But if I click on the corner a box appears and I can select the size. My other issue though is that even when the initial picture is of good quality when I increase the size on upload it’s blurry.
                Regards

                Sir Herlock Sholmes.

I don't have an iPad but will experiment later with an Android Tablet if you don't mind this thread getting junk added.

If you select "icon" or "small" are you then able to click and drag to enlarge the photo?

No, I selected ‘small’ for this one but I can’t drag it bigger.

I can click and hold on the corner of the picture though and a box comes up called Image Properties. On it there are two boxes - width and height. I’ll type 300 into the width one (height increases automatically) I’ll select ‘small’ again before I do this.

I’ll try it with a photo that I’ve taken of one of my portraits rather than an image from the net and see if the quality is any better.

Quality not affected. So it’s only when I got an image from the net which I copied and pasted onto Pages and reduced in size by dragging. I don’t have a clue.

Try clicking on the image and then downloading the full size picture.

Rather than downloading from the net, try taking a screen shot/snip instead to see if the quality remains unaffected.
