I just read about the passing of Queen Elizabeth Ii, and want to extend my sincere condolences to all Casebook members from Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The NY Times calls her a "beacon of stability" for her people for seventy years. I doubt they're wrong.

God bless your queen and may she rest in peace.

RIP Her Majesty and thanks to Abby, Dave and Pat.

Its going to be really strange saying the word ‘King’ for those of us who’ve only ever known a Queen.

Always conducted herself in public with class and dignity. Pretty rare these days. May she rest in peace.

                  Agreed c.d!

I am far from being a royalist, but I would very much concur with those sentiments about her as an individual.

Yes, that is going to be strange.

At the risk of sounding a bit ghoulish, I think it is going to be quite interesting to see all the pomp and archaic ceremony play out over the next ten days.

Some of the rituals are centuries old, and they will be meticulously choreographed.

She's reigned for so long that very few of us will have seen anything like it in our lifetime.

No royalist here but she was a lovely lady and will be missed.

The end of an era, a royal classy lady, she will be missed - RIP Elizabeth Windsor.

God Save the King, although not the most popular member of the royal family, Charles at least should be more tempered by age, less likely to lose his head.

A sad day. So many politicians could have learnt some lessons in diplomacy and tact from her. Alas, they did not.

Same here. No fan of the monarchy as an institution. But had a real soft spot for the Queen Her passing has had a deeply profound effect on me. Like losing my grandmothers all over again. I am really very sad.
                              Best wishes,
