There was actually a scientific study done because of how differently some people respond to cilantro. Turns out, if you don't have a specific gene sequence your taste buds aren't wired to Cilantro and it tastes like soap to those people. So some people who hate cilantro aren't just disliking it for no reason, it really does taste horrible to them. I remember reading about it because there was a chef who was always getting flak for not ever using cilantro and they turned out to be hardwired against it. Weird, ain't it?
Let all Oz be agreed;
I need a better class of flying monkeys.

People with Porphyria need to avoid garlic because it causes intense pain.
And I hate cilantro as well. I can't say that it tastes like soap, although know that I think about it it tastes a little like peppery soap. I fine with a little of it in salsa, but otherwise it is so revolting. Even the smell is revolting. Like bleach and pepper.
PS: given my heritage it would not surprise me at all if I never had a "cilantro gene" introduced into my genetic makeup.The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
