We've eight cats...my missus has just planted the above in our garden, in the full knowledge of it's common name and nature, and is now loudly lamenting the fact that four animals are alternately rolling on the plant and eating it...doh!

    All the best

I am assuming from your post it must be cat nip?

If so I am guessing your wife is not happy but your cats will be....or high lol, just hope they don't get the munchies - that could get quite expensive with 6 to feed!!

You're quite right in your assumption Tracey - it certainly is catnip - and there are eight to feed! So yes, whilst it doesn't break the bank (about five cans per day) it's not cheap either, (It's the vets bills that bother me most!)...

I think all of them have now discovered the plant, and are getting high as a kite - She's been opening the top half of the kitchen door and hollering at the poor old cats all day...it's had me in (quiet!) hysterics...

        All the best

Lol! I tried to plant catnip years ago at my moms house when I lived there. Same result. Plant lasted about a day.

Btw, we have five cats. Crazy about them. Cats are wonderful, and yours are now stoned...Bet they think you guys are the cats meow

Btw, ever had catnip tea? Light yellow soothing tea. Like a light version of valerian tea. It tastes good, too.

No it's never lasted long enough to harvest...and this time is no exception...even the Jack Russell's been out and rolled on it...I swear he thinks he's a cat...spends enough time trying to mount them anyway...

We have just one dog and two cats, but we have a child, and live in an apartment.

We used to live in a house outside the city, and no child, and always had strays wandering in. We had seven cats and two dogs at one point. At another, five cats and four dogs.

              The fur people are wonderful.

We used to be the sort of people who always pulled over when we saw a dog in traffic. We'd spend an evening trying to get a lost dog home, or a month's leisure allowance on an injured stray. We can't do that now that we have a little kid, and have to settle for a call to the rescue society.

                Hi Rivkah

Five kids and never less than six cats...and no we've never been rich...mostly hard up as I recall...but always enough grub for one more human or one more cat...perhaps the one explains the other!

I'm nearly sixty and we're within five years of owning a three bedroom semi-detached...christ we've sweated for that - In the kid's early days I saw little of them...seventy to ninety hours a week being the norm...but if that's what it took...but yes I know where you're coming from and applaud you!

Cats, being so challenging, are probably god's way of judging just how worthy you are!

                Lots of love

That wasn't quite what I meant. I mean we used to pull lost dogs out of traffic, quite literally, and check their tags, or take them to the vet to have them checked for microchips. Found ads in the paper were free, so sometimes we ha d a stray animal in the yard while an ad ran.

We don't do that now, because it's one thing to take our own risk with an unknown dog, but we aren't going to put a strange dog in the car with our little boy.

Also, we have the max number of pets our landlords allow. When we had our own house, and lived in the county, there was no limit (in the city, there was a limit of four dogs over six months old, unless you paid for a kennel license, but no limit on cats, and cats in the city needed individual licenses, just as dogs in both the city and county do) on the number of pets a person could have, although you certainly could be arrested for neglect if you had more than you could care for.

Maxima are for fools...who cares what your landlord allows? I honestly thought better of you than that...life is really about working out how to break the rules that offend you while getting away with it...and in my case, doing it without hurting other people....
