We took some last night at DH's birthday dinner. We let the boychik blow out the candles, and used the relighting kind. He couldn't stop laughing.
I'm afraid I'm very boring. I think people have the right to do whatever they want, even if it's trios, or drugs, or fetishes that may sound kinda gross, but are harmless. I think pot should be legal, but I wouldn't use it if it were.
I think there's a big, fat, visible-from-space line between "anything goes," for people who are able to consent, and "nothing goes" for people (and other creatures) who cannot.
It's pretty east to see that children, animals, people so drunk they can't stand up, or people too cognitively impaired to understand the question, or talk at all, cannot consent.
,
People whose age isn't apparent, and could be 14, or could be 18, people who have been drinking, but don't appear impaired, and people who don't seem too bright, or seem smart, but a little "off," yet seem to know what sex is, and have a sense of boundaries, are a difficult call, and there is just no substitute for knowing the person.
I know someone who has mild cerebral palsy, and is hard of hearing. He is very intelligent, and has a BS in math, and an MA in. Econ. He taught at the school for the Deaf for many years. His wife is hearing, but has Deaf parents, and the two of them mostly use sign together. When he talks to people briefly, so they don't get a sense of his intelligence, they probably think he's retarded. People probably wonder why his wife married a retarded guy.
I know it usually goes the other way-- someone impaired appears not to be. But that's why there's no substitute for knowing someone.
Excuse random extra letters and typos-- cat pounced on tablet, and I'm not sure I got all the stray letters off.Last edited by RivkahChaya; 06-27-2013, 04:14 AM.
