How is everyone doing these days?

Doing fine. I retired at the end of June after 22 years as an academic librarian. Coming up on two months of free time and am happy to have received my Medicare card. (I need an eye check-up.)

Have lost weight by just not being as hungry as before, which is a good thing. I dislike cooking, too, so that helps. I still order the occasional burger or burrito, but haven't had pizza in months!

Regret to state that it isn't yet September, and I've seen Dunking Donuts advertising the ubiquitous "pumpkin spice" flavor of their coffee concoction. So glad I don't drink coffee.

      Thanks for asking Magpie!

Everything is tickety boo here in scorchingly sunny Glasgow.

I am busy reacquainting myself with the Wallace case.

Very tricky, convoluted case..........maybe a cold beer will help.

I'm ready for the asteroid to hit the planet, kill off all of humanity and allow evolution to start over with a new breed of beings that aren't quite so systemically moronic. Possibly using rats as their base stock instead of apes.

Other than that, fine. How are you?

Awful if the truth be told, thanks for asking.

Has a cold beer ever hurt?

Not that I can ever remember, but there's no doubt that working up a sweat before hand (

gardening/ work out,/cycling) does seem to raise the enjoyment .level significantly.

so so tbh. Covid lockdowns haven't been kind to me as I have put on about 7 kilos which will have to come off now that the gyms are open again (I hate gyms). Went to my fist post-Covid dentist appointment recently and the guy wants to go straight to work and rob me blind. The cricket team is a shambles (apart from yesterday) and Man City seem to have bought themselves yet another title.

On the other hand, I will get to move into my new house in december and I managed to claim the converted loft for myself in exchange for the wife and daughter getting a cat. It's also close enough to my daugher's school so she can walk so I feel like I have also bought myself time, much of which I intend to spend behind the drumkit again after a 4 year break. So yeah, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Hey previously, I would have been happy with only a 90 percent kill-off, leaving 10% of humanity alive to serve our Rodent Overlords. Now I just want to wipe the slate.

                        Hi Magpie,

Good to see you here again.

I'm doing fine thanks - it's all the others.

Still getting older, but I'm just waiting for the process to go into reverse so I can enjoy this second childhood people talk about. In my dreams I'm always much younger, slimmer and more attractive, which makes me feel a bit grumpy about waking up. But I also have some hilarious dreams featuring talking animals - usually cats, but the occasional fox, and the other night it was an otter with an Italian accent, who introduced himself as "Mr Lewis". I woke myself up laughing.

                        Love,

                            Hi Ally,

Perhaps the ultimate Covid or climate change will acheive this result, without an asteroid, for the Rodent Overlords who are already in place and known as the wealthy elite.

                            Welcome Magpie.

                            Cheers. George
