  • What happened on YOUR birthday in Ripper History?

Hi guys. I hope you guys will find the premise of this thread as interesting as I did.

I was looking in the "Games & Diversions" link and I came across "This day in Ripper History." (http://www.casebook.org/diversions/thisday.html) Nothing happened today (6th of February), however I thought it would be interesting to put in my birthday and see what comes up.

"On September 6th in 1888: Polly Nichols is buried at Little Ilford Cemetery."

So there we are. I was born exactly 101 years after Polly Nichols was buried. That feels weird to know.

Why don't you guys put in your birthdays and see what comes up?

P.S: Sorry if anybody sees this thread as in bad taste. That was honestly not the intention. I just thought it would be interesting to see what people find out.

On the day of my birthday (July 16th), nothing Ripper-y happened in 1888.

    A winnar is me.

Why should Jack the Ripper have done something on my birthday? I never did anything on his.

Nothing happened on my birthday (Aug 18th), but Mary Anne Faulkner died on my sister's birthday (23rd August) and she (my sister, that is) got married exactly 100 years to the day that Polly Nichols was murdered. Oddly enough, she was underwhelmed when I told her that I never forget her wedding anniversary for that reason. Morbid, indeed. I don't know what she was talking about...

I suspect we'll never know if that's true or not. :/

There's nothing wrong with a bit of bad taste.

Mary Nicholls left the workhouse on my birthday.
            This is simply my opinion

Hmm. I expected nothing at all, but...

On November 15th in 1888: Wolf Levisohn accosted by two prostitutes who shouted "You are Jack the Ripper!" after he refused to accept their solicitations.
On November 15th in 1892: Dr. Thomas Neill Cream is hanged for the murder of Matilda Clover. His last words were allegedly "I am Jack the..."

On November 15th in 1918: Sir Robert Anderson dies.

              Very surprising.

I also share my birthday with Erwin Rommel.

Sally, what they actually shouted was, "You are Jack the Ripper and I claim my five pounds."

Hmm, a clever ruse. I expect they were probably Fenian spies..

I didn't expect anything, and don't really consider this Ripper related, but the site says:

"On May 24th in 1890: Prince Albert Victor is created Duke of Clarence and Avondale, and Earl of Athlone. "

I suspect May 24 was chosen because Queen Victoria was celebrating her birthday as she was born May 24, 1837.

My birthday, November 24, comes at the supposed ending of the murders, closing in on the alleged time of the suicide of Montague John Druitt. (When found December 31st, his body had been in the river "about a month.") On November 24th in 1888: Francis Tumblety flees to France, and then to America under the name 'Frank Townshend.
And the questions always linger, no real answer in sight

                              Hello you all!

                              Oh-oh:

On August 26th in 1845: Mary Ann Walker, later “Polly” Nichols, is born at Dawes Ct., Shoe Lane, London.

So, the difference between her and me is:

                              1. I am a man.

                              2. I was born in 1963!

                              All the best
