Did anyone see this article? I have no idea how popular this online magazine is, but I think it's fairly well known. In fact, I think the original paper magazine goes way back, doesn't it?

Well, anyhow, it's pretty shocking. I'm not putting it up here to run down England, I know you aren't all 'satanic worshippers' over there but honestly, I sometimes think there are more of these monsters in power than the general population would care to open their eyes to.

Theres something wrong with this story. There are pedophiles and there are Satanists, but very rarely do the two meet. And there's a reason for that. Satanists, the follower of Levay, are fat middle aged men and women who try to express their wickedness by eating a Host off of a naked bored prostitute. And sometimes they have sex in front of each other. It's tawdry, and visually unappealing, but these guys aren't monsters typically. The problem is, that Satanic rites have to be public, or else frankly, you don't get the credit for them, and these people are in it for the credit. But you can't make a Satanic coven engage in homosexual sex with a consenting adult, because they don't swing that way.(gay men in Satanism are very very rare) So theres no chance in hell you get a bunch of bored suburbanites willing to molest children (or tolerate the molestation of children) for a religion they aren't even willing to kiss a dude for. And Satanism doesn't put any emphasis on the innocent. Satanism wants you to have sex with prostitutes, not deflower virgins. So there is no Satanic benefit to victimizing children.

I know it sounds like I'm defending Satanism, but I'm not. Satanists are people to be laughed at... really really hard. Not feared.

Oh once you get out of English speaking nations it's a whole other beast. But the US, Canada, Britain, Australia, and for some unknown reason France all have only one brand of Satanism, and that's the Lavey kind. The people who believe what is called Satanism in say, Peru or Uganda are called something else in these five countries. It's not like Christianity, where there are a couple dozen practices associated with the guy named Christ. There are Satanists, and there are people who worship the Devil and various demons, who you would think would be called Satanists, but for some reason just aren't. I can't explain the phenomenon, but in the past 50 years there has been no cult or group calling themselves Satanist that have not taken their shtick from Lavey. The more sinister bends have called themselves something else. Probably so as not to be confused with such a lame organization as the Church of Satan. So, in summation, "Satanism" is actually a lot more specific than the naming processes of other religions would imply.

On a total side note, I had to do a paper on Satanism, had to visit with a local chapter. I got physically thrown out. Because, no lie, I was laughing so hard I couldn't stand upright. Silent racking sobs of laughter, tears rolling down my face, I couldn't even breathe, much less get up and walk out when they evicted me. Not my most respectful experience, but since my life really sucked at that point, totally needed laughter. Oh, and the High Priest and Priestess were my friend's mom and dad, so... awkward.

I don't see why Satanists should be any more figures of amusement than followers of any other religious group.Of course the opportunity to put 'Paedophile' and 'satanists' in the same headline is gold for the tabloids, particularly with the current level of hysteria which seems to have overtaken the UK,but lets not forget the amount of abuse carried out by priests so I don't believe Satanists are more or less likely to be paedophiles than anyone else.

They shouldn't be objects of amusement. God help me I can't control myself, but it is wrong of me. It's the way my sense of humor slants that the funniest thing in the world to me is a Satanist. For some people it's a monkey playing bongos, but for me it's a black mass. I'm sure I'm going to hell for it. Or Heaven maybe?
