    Ha!

The vatican actually had to issue a directive to stop 'em doing this?

    Wow!

    Just wow!

I can understand the priests wanting a true man of God in the White House like Donald "grab 'em by their *****" Trump.

As bizarre as it seems at this juncture, he's actually appealing to people to use their own brains, think for themselves and reach their own decision.

The Christian argument is interesting, I guess, to us UK listeners, it's not so relevant to our politics. But we understand Christian values, and that's not on show in America, despite The Donald and his Bible waving antics, his clear attempts to condemn some while glorifying others.

I believe the difference is that Trump, whatever his failings, isn't claiming to be a practising Catholic. Biden claims to be, but holds several policy positions anathematic to the Church, most particularly his pro-choice position on abortion.

It's beginning to make some waves, it seems: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/tex...-fires-of-hell And the 'Vatican consultant', even if he is with the Society of Jesus, doesn't speak with the authority of the Pope.

What did it say on that coat Melania was wearing? I don't care, do you?

The Reverend Sharpton frequently points out that Trump is a degenerate swindler.

In truth, neither Sharpton, nor Father Martin, should be endorsing candidates.

There is a separation of Church and State in this country, and if the churches want to enter politics, then tax them like any other business.

The government has to remain secular, because we are a nation of many beliefs. There is no contradiction if a politician adheres to a public policy position that doesn't align with his own personal beliefs, because that is how it is supposed to operate under The Constitution. This is the U.S.A., not Iran.

From the bishop's perspective, of course, the whole affair has nothing to do with politics. He has a moral imperative to warn his flock against behaviours which he believes will damn them, especially in a situation such as this, where a Jesuit father has effectively told them that it's not an issue.

Don't you think it is rather two-faced for some women, typically the likes of Evangelicals, to campaign for Pro-Life on the one hand, but insist on Womens Rights on the other?

I find this a contradiction too.

Do such women actually advocate for women's rights though?

I'd always assumed that they were proponents of "traditional family values" ie men out earning a crust, women at home churning out and looking after endless offspring.

I tend to fall out pretty quickly with pro-lifers (or anti-choicers, as I think of them), so I don't really know what they're all about.

I see no real contradiction. The anti-abortion people believe, rightly or wrongly, that a fetus is a person. Their conduct is consistent with that.

The Church, per'se, is a bit archaic in our modern world.
At least Biden respects a woman's right to control her own body. It's been a long hard road for women to get even the most basic of rights.

The Southern states fought a war with the North because they didn't want to be told what to do. The Southern states wanted the Right to Choose. Yet, many of these same people refuse to give women the same Rights.

                        I don't get it.

If you are anti abortion, on any grounds, don't have an abortion - even if you are raped and end up pregnant.

This should be of no concern to anyone but the person who is carrying the baby.

If you are anti same sex marriage, don't marry someone of the same sex.

This should be of no concern to anyone but the couple getting married.

It's that simple. Just do whatever you personally believe is right - within the law - and mind your own business when it concerns anyone else.

                        Love,

That's just the point "The Law" in some states, takes that right away from you.
This is what Trump is enabling by stuffing the Justice system with Conservative judges, over 300 of them, if I recall, he's pandering to the Religious Right.
They turn their blind eye to all his lying, his deception, and the abuse of women, because he is giving them what they want.
