I'm not an advocate of Capital Punishment, but at 74 years old being sentenced to life is a poor sense of justice.

All that we could hope for is that he takes legal responsibility for the crimes, not for any kind of real Justice to be dealt out. All the people affected by these crimes now have an answer, we know he is too old to be a danger to anyone, and he will be incarcerated for the balance of his life. Under the circumstances that's all one can expect from the modern Justice System. In days of old he would be taken, with a noose, to a nearby tree... regardless of his age.

Ive wondered whether we should have created a system where the affected parties help determine the fate of the guilty. Interesting to see if forgiveness or compassion would be present in those kinds of sentences.

        Let's face it, he won.

He's spent the better part of his life as a free man. Obviously, it's great that he was finally apprehended and faces justice for his crimes, but not a huge victory in the grand scheme of things.

Not unless recent knowledge can somehow change the past or revive victims,... that's the reality. Its, if anything, a testament to the ever evolving crime detection tool kits. To find him like this shows that dna evidence really can find snakes in the grass.
