I've learned on the Maybrick thread that this is not evidence of fraud. Churchman Pearce, having developed some small misgivings, may have only wanted to know what 400 gallons of mineral oil looked like.

The oil was a near identical match with the brand. But note, it was only a near identical match, not an actual identical match. Clearly, it must have been a miracle as how else could it be so close (think of the odds) but not exactly the same!
Isolation is not doing me any favours it seems.
