Goodbye sweet Emma Cat, 7-25-19

I am sad to inform you all that my beautiful rescue tortie cat Emma (see my profile pic) passed away this past Thursday due to unexplained seizures that left her in a coma. I agreed to humane euthanasia and sat with her before, during, and after the procedure. She had just been to the vet the day before, and about two weeks earlier. The emergency vet I talked to on Thursday thought she'd had a stroke or brain clot.

Sigh. These things happen, but we both miss her very much. She was our anchor after our older cat died 3 years ago. Emma was 15 years old. I can't recommend enough you get your senior pets in for a check up!

We're thinking of getting a pair of kittens or cats, but it may take time.

Sorry to hear about your cat Pat. She’d had a good long life though. I’ve lost two dogs that both lived to a good age and it’s always tough. Give it a bit of time and get the kittens or cats. Once a cat lover......

I know how you must feel. We had to say goodbye to two dogs last year.

Thank you so much, Herlock! I appreciate the sentiment. When I was younger, I loved all pets equally, but with time have become enamored of the felines among us.

My brothers girlfriend loves cats. She currently has two but she would take 200 if my brother would agree. Up until a few months ago we had a cat come into our garden twice a day. Gradually she came closer until I could stroke her (I have no reason for assuming that it was a she but I did). We were buying her treats and cat milk then she just disappeared. This was 6 months ago and I still wonder what happened to her. I’m just hoping for an innocent explanation like her family just moved away? Trouble is that I’m a bit of a pessimist.

My boy is a mini Schnauzer. I’ll have to find a more recent photo, that one was the day he came home, just on two years ago. He tells me he is now a big dog.

There have only been two shortish periods of my life when I didn’t have a dog, mainly because I took a while to recover from the last loss. My wife and I bread and showed dalmatians for many years, daughter still has one who happens to be Maxy’s best mate, but he also likes her cat.

Max .and the cat make a pretty pair. The cat's color is very like our late Maggie, who passed 3 years ago (but her eyes were green and her fur much longer). We are currently without any cat at all, which is strange.

Alas, many people abandon the household pet (more likely to be the cat, but dogs too) when they move. This is where stray pets come from.

Emma and her brother were left in a box near an apartment building when they were no more than 3-4 weeks old (not old enough to be weaned yet!) and they were taken to a cat rescue. They were fostered out by a volunteer.
I adopted Emma in April, several months after my mother had passed away.

Emma was 9 weeks old and a bundle of joy and love. For most of her life she met me at the door when I came home, always meowing with news. She gave me what for when I had a few days away in the hospital, and spent every night for several weeks afterwards sleeping on my chest! My closest bond to a pet was with her, and I hope I don't ever forget her.

Bert is part poodle [his coat is soft and doesn't shed] and part terrier [I think]. He is the fastest thing on four legs. If he was taller, I'd say he was part greyhound.

I hope Max has grown into a giant schnauzer. There's one in our local dog park and he is fabulous.

No Simon pure mini my Max, I’m afraid my health probably isn’t up to a giant, I thought yours was part poodle, one great 5hing about Schnauzers is they don’t shed, not like Dalmatians where white hairs are everywhere
