This is indeed good news! Nice to see someone posting that they appreciate the forums instead of bitching about this or that. I too miss old school Ally. It was never boring when she was the Queen (Mean) of the Kingdom. I guess old age has mellowed her out? I'm not sure that absence of John Bennett should be lamented just yet, as I've seen quite a bit of him on the boards lately.

        Yours truly,

Okay, I'm putting this back. I deleted it earlier for mysterious reasons. :-)

Those who had the privilege of being a member here when Sam was posting do miss his common sense, his research abilities, and his impressive repository of knowledge on the Ripper cases and the LVP. He always had a helpful attitude. Unless he's changed his mind, Sam believes that JtR was an unknown local man, but, on here, he kept an open mind about that and most other issues.

I used to think that we ought to have to pay Sam and a certain other gentleman, whose name begins with an "R", a fee for their quips.

Anyway, I know people in the UK still see Sam, and that he is active.

            Idle talk.

Hello Celesta. Blimey, you think Robert merits pay? Rumour has it that Eric Idle feeds him half his lines.

            Cheers.

Lynn, I wish Idle was doing that!

At one point a few years ago my police ranking was "teaboy" and I think I got a free cup of tea out of that, but otherwise I am happy to give you all my posts for free, and -

                    vicious

Hello Robert. OK, OK. I'll use dramatic irony, puns, pathos, litotes, etc. As you may have guessed, I'm vicious.

                    Cheers.

That's the other thing as well, one virtually needs to be on the forums every day to keep up with the discussions.....a week away here and there and one is left in the wake of the case and is constantly playing a game of catch ups.....

                                Cheers,
