I too greatly miss Sam/Gareth. He was so interesting, polite and a valuable contributor on so many topics.

Okay, I'm putting this back. I deleted it earlier for mysterious reasons. :-)
Those who had the privilege of being a member here when Sam was posting do miss his common sense, his research abilities, and his impressive repository of knowledge on the Ripper cases and the LVP. He always had a helpful attitude. Unless he's changed his mind, Sam believes that JtR was an unknown local man, but, on here, he kept an open mind about that and most other issues.
I used to think that we ought to have to pay Sam and a certain other gentleman, whose name begins with an "R", a fee for their quips.
Anyway, I know people in the UK still see Sam, and that he is active."What our ancestors would really be thinking, if they were alive today, is: "Why is it so dark in here?"" From Pyramids by Sir Terry Pratchett, a British National Treasure.

That's the other thing as well, one virtually needs to be on the forums every day to keep up with the discussions.....a week away here and there and one is left in the wake of the case and is constantly playing a game of catch ups.....
Cheers,
Adam.
