    Music question: can you help?

Can anyone tell me where I can find a diagram that shows the notes of an Akebono (I or II) scale in Dm on the piano?

This is really getting on my nerves today.

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. a website that allows me to show the akebono scale in mulitple keys would be even better, for future reference, but for now I will settle for Dm.

The Akebono is a Japanese pentatonic scale with five notes. It can't be strictly in a minor key as Asian music is not like the Western scales. It takes it's name from the starting note, the root, in your case D.

The notes are D E F A Bb. To play the scale in other 'keys' start with the root note and add the pattern which is; D to E (tone), E to F (semitone), F to A (tone), A to Bb (semitone).

Spiros, thank you! You are a prince among men.

Now that I read it, I feel pretty stupid--your instructions make it so clear now.

        Thanks again!
