Well, I'm wondering if they are going to make sure that it is is fact Bundy's blood before putting it in the database. I mean, filing errors happen.

I'm also thinking six years old is a little young for Bundy. Obviously I could be wrong, but even his 12 year old victim resembled an adult more than a child.

      Careful with DNA...

      Hi Errata,

I feel very sure the authorities will be thorough and careful when verifying this blood sample before testing and uploading it. Not all cops are dunderheads. You should also keep in mind that when the 6 year old was killed Bundy was somewhere between 12 and 14 if memory serves me correctly so they think this might have been his first. Also, the head of the task force that tracked him, Bob Keppel, believed he murdered 100 women...........

No of course not. But PR guys are usually pretty careful about this kind of thing, and they aren't saying "a vial believed to contain" his blood, which I would have expected if they found samples that were supposed to have been destroyed. It seems equally logical that they did destroy it, and some random sample got mixed in with the other evidence as it is that they somehow failed to destroy it. Which is why I'm curious. On the other hand, if they can't get DNA from it, it's going to be hard to prove it was his sample, because his blood type I think is O+, which is the most common type.

I don't think these guys are stupid, I am just surprised at the lack of... caution I guess displayed by the guys being interviewed.

A 1961 murder case, a blood group O secretor, evidence kept on file by the authorities for no apparent reason, and all to be solved by DNA techniques of the 21st Century. Some people are not going to like this.
