Not what I said. It's great that you have self control in a lot of "substance abuse" areas. However, you, like everyone else are only human. Your lack of self-control is with your mouth, manners, narcissism, ability to see yourself how others see you, whatever you wish to call it....same sh*t, different angle...

You are not out of control with alcohol or food or drugs or cigarettes; you are completely correct about that. Your "out of control" area involves something different than the aforementioned.

No, I could control it, I just don't choose to, like cigarette smokers can quit, they just don't choose to.

Like you could control your nasty bitchy attitude same as me but you don't choose to.

I don't attempt to explain it away however, by saying it's your fault for being an idiot, so I have to slap you down. People want to blame cigarettes, alcohol and everything else under the sun--the choice is theirs. No one forces them. No one makes them do anything. It's their choice.

      Let all Oz be agreed;
I need a better class of flying monkeys.

Nicotine addiction is the second-leading cause of death worldwide. The important causes of smoking-related mortality are atherosclerotic vascular disease, cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

It isn't smoking that's dangerous, it's dying that's dangerous. So I think they should make death illegal. Particularly in public places. There's nothing worse than a stiff in a restaurant. Positive health hazard and can lead to passive dying. True, dying isn't addictive - you can do it only once. But it sets a bad example. Your children see you die and, years later, they do the same thing themselves! Bad form.

                  Hi Robert,

I couldn't agree more!!! In fact, I'd go even further... Dying in public should carry... the Death Penalty!!! As you say, its simply bad form and short of, let's say, at attack by multiple Zulu Impis, only serves to set a bad example to the "other ranks". One thing that I do find somewhat disturbing though is the seemingly inevitable conclusion that I have arrived at, through my years of research, that... Death runs in families!!! Now this is controversial stuff, I know, and I realise that much more research needs be done in order to ascertain exactly to what extend this is due to "Nature vs Nurture"!!!

                  Best wishes,

                  Zodiac.

                    Hi Zodiac

                    On the other hand...

I certainly don't wish to stigmatise, scapegoat, or demonise stiffs, as this would be disrespectful and, even worse, not helpful. In my opinion anti-death prejudice is a result of an exploitative class system. The long term remedy is political, but in the short term we can offer people assistance and support. Programmes which induce the longing for death, such as "Coronation Street" and "Friends," should be promoted. All discrimination must cease - if someone wants to take a corpse on to a bus, he/she should be allowed to do so. Furthermore I notice that for thousands of years people have refused to employ stiffs and I therefore suggest positive discrimination to redress the balance. I welcome the fact that this has already started to happen, and that many lawyers, judges, churchmen and politicians seem in fact to be quite dead. There are undoubtedly more stiffs out there who are too frightened to "come out," so I propose an annual Defunct Day, a Grave Pride march, and a series of Stiff Awareness events. Let us see an end to this lifeist prejudice.

                      Hi Robert,

Indeed Robert, infact Trade Unions have been fighting against such anti-death preducice and discrimination for many years!!!

I, for one, do not see the discrimination of dead people. They have been an ingrained part of of the decision making process for countless situations.

Otherwise, how can you explain the existence of Braille keypads on drive-through ATM machines?

I think it's vital that we challenge the stereotypes about dead people. Such stereotypes are Disrespectful and Not Helpful. Also they are

                            1. Unacceptable
                            2. Unacceptable in a civilized society

which is just another way of saying

                            3. I don't like them.

I'm too scared even to read this thread (says she, lighting another one).

I hope, whatever you're talking about, it doesn't get to France. Life is stressful enough as it is.

I think that it's stupid to try and upset smokers whilst at the same legally selling the things and collecting tax -just ban them if you don't want people to buy them.

It's the same thing with selling evermore powerful cars and installing more speed limits and radars.
