    Who is this describing?

"[He had] more charisma than any human being should have... I began to see, after he became [head of a large organisation] that there was some real possibility and potential there, that he had enormous powers of leadership, big vision, and, as a manager of a large entity... he had very adroit skills and as a political manager, to manage problematic relationships, he had enormous smarts and an incredible reservoir of tools at his disposal."

Any guesses as to who that describes? And why do you think so?

Those who can identify the quote straight away please hold off comment for a while.

I am expecting it to be Osama Bin Laden, or Saddam Huessain, no idea why though.

Its Karl Rove speaking about George W Bush.

                        Derrick

                          Phil,

So can we assume that Derrick is correct?

                            I have no idea.

But have the feeling that it could be an "Asinus asinum fricat" case.

                              Derrick was right!! Well done!

It was a 22 year old Karl Rove, speaking of his first meeting with George W, then 26. Rove became Bush's chief of staff for most of his presidency.

Which now changes the nature of the discussion in tis thread!!

Is that an accurate impression of Bush? Have I been under a misapprehension all this while? Have I misunderestimated "W"?

I would never have recognised the man from the words (found in a BBC article on its website).

                              So what's going on?
