Questions for Our Brothers and Sisters Across the Pond
There were always a few misunderstandings when stewardesses for Trans World Airlines (TWA) would ask passengers if they would like some TWA coffee or some TWA tea.
ok, I'm going to say it, I thought tosser was a masturbatory reference. As in someone who engages in the practice an abnormal amount, and therefor is a creepy loser type. I don't know why my brain went there, but it did. Mea Culpa.
Yeah - that's what I recall it as. My Scottish friend and I were having a conversation about other words you could use for somebody who masturbates in aid of my Kozminski comic sketch series. And quite an amusing little conversation that was...
I have no interest in American football. The play seems to last for about 20 seconds, and then stops while everyone has a chat. Then it restarts for another 20 seconds, and stops again. I have always assumed that this is to give the burger sellers plenty of time to make their sales.
Wow I am an American and I couldnt agree more on American football... when all is said and done there is less the 7 minutes of total "action" in the average football game (I didnt make that up.. it is a true stat)....I know that I am one of the few Ammericans that just isnt a fan of American football (and I live in a huge football city.. the Bills might not be great anymore but this city lives and breaths them).....I also have to admit i'm not that big a fan of real "football" or as we yanks call it soccer.... infact I can only really watch during the world cup (or during the movie Victory....had to go for that joke)...now my favorite football is Australian Rules Football...Footy... now that is a sport...all action, hard hitting, high scoring, fast paced, just a great game...also I do have an Aussie rules thread going on here if anyone is interested, please feel free to stop in and say hello (not that I am trying to take anyone from this thread.. which I think is great!!).
Having only spent a little time in th UK (every minute of which I loved....well.. almost every minute) I cant say I'm an expert on your beer, but every pub that I went too the beer was cold and fantastic.
The other thing about American football, from the little I've seen of it, is that most of the players bump into each other, during which some guy will throw the ball a long way, some other guy will catch it, and then expect a pat on the back.
At 7 minutes of action per game, they could fit a whole season into one day, leaving the rest of the year free for playing cricket or soccer.
hahah Cricket.. now there is another one.. I try so hard to get it but it just makes no sense to me.. I like what I see but.. yeah do not understand the rules at all..
and I'm not one to talk about slow paced sports as I am a Huge Baseball fan hahaha I know just saying that put alot of people to sleep

From the little I've seen, I'ver a feeling that baseball is less popular than American football. The stadiums seem smaller. It does have the advantage of being one of the few games played with a policeman's truncheon.
Sad to say baseball is far less popular than American football.. just about everything in America is less popular than American football..and I don't get it... well other than that they have the best marketing people is history... it's massive really....

Cricket for foreigners.. it's all really very simple.
You have two sides, one out in the field and one in.
Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out.
When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out.
Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in.
There are two men called umpires who stay all out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.
When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!
Howzat!
