Hi Caz

I'm not too sure that we have a new moral code on witches. We certainly have a new scientific code on them, for we no longer believe that an old woman can wreak all manner of death and destruction with the aid of incantations and spells. If we did still believe this, I think said old women would be a tad unpopular, to say the least. However, part of the reason that people believed in witches was due to the churches' unscientific attitude.

I disagree. All 'holy' books from the Bible to the Book of Mormon are poorly written, unbelievable, and only have merit because people are searching for something. There's more reality, artistry, and believability in the works of Carlos Casteneda than in the whole lot of them, and casteneda was a liar and a poor writer. If you believe in that stuff, it's a beautiful and perfect work. If you go beyond faith and try and read it, it is uninteresting hogwash. Even the Psalms are amateurish. Yet, I was never much of a book critic, so you may be right.

Well, the first novel was Don Quixote in the 15somethings. So really any piece of work before that is going to be a tough read with some really dry parts. The Malleus Malificarum is nigh impossible, but really worth it to get insight to the inherit filthy-mindedness of Inquisitors. Theres good and bad parts in the Bible. The book of Ruth, the Song of Solomon, Leviticus is a hoot. Begats are bad, Deuteronomy is bad...

It's like Aesop's fables, with middle eastern people instead of animals.

Why don't you people let the citizen's of Tennessee decide what's in the best interest of our children and we'll let you decide what's in the best interest of your's?

Fair enough Hunter - but Tennessee is not the whole world - and if any of your children want to stray outside your state a little they will need critical faculties that help them understand and present their views and ideas. Failing to equip them with a range of possibilities concerning the origins of the universe is disadvantaging them.

Hey now. I live in Tennessee and I think I am eminently reasonable about such things. The truth is, we don't have more of these people than any other place. But since it is much more acceptable here, our "these people" tend to be more vocal. And I'm fine with that. I would rather see it coming, so to speak.
