Don't know if I have metioned this before, but we saw Ian Dury live at Glastonbury back in 1984. He was great fun, very energetic and charismatic in a strange sort of way. He went down very well.

Having just recently been discussing my teenage years, I felt the need to listen to this brilliant track. For all of their fooling, this band were immensely talented and this is a bloody good rock track:

That's a fantastic track too Robert, as is 'Everyday' (which I always find so very difficult to listen to without feeling soft and silly and and really rather sad).

The musicianship of the band is superb and very underated.

My husband saw them live (I think it was at Reading) in about 1980 and he said they had to go on stage just after a very high profile group had been canned and booed off but Slade (who had more or less fallen out of favour by then) absolutely stole the show.

I wasn't there that year but went in 1983 when Black Sabbath, The Stranglers and Thin Lizzy were the highlights. Magic!

I went to the Isle of Wight this year - my first 'real' festival since 1984 (just before our kids were born). Tom Petty, Elbow, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and a number of other really good acts. Again - magic!

That prompted me to try to find the oldest living rock star still performing. I got a list of the oldest ones still living, but it's a very strange list indeed. I never knew that Vera Lynn was a rock artist :

Good to see some old favourites there though - BB King (saw him a few years back) - Pete Seeger (again, not really a rock star but a very much loved folk singer and human rights activist) - Chuck Berry (now that's more like it), Fats Domino and Little Richard - some really good artists there!
