And yes, I bet Sarah Palin would do it. She would nuke us all on December 31, 2012. ;-)
    Hi Maria,

Thanks mate, afraid that I am still in hiding from "Special Branch" and the Grand Lodge of the Ancient Order of the Scottish Right of the Freemasons, over my publishing of the leaking of Sir Robert Anderson's Arse!!!

    Hope to speak to soon,

    Best wishes,
    Zodiac.

      Hi Hunter,
I most certainly didn't intend to offend you. A high school diploma, especially for your generation, when almost only the rich were able to go to college, was fairly sufficient. You are a wonderful historian and have no need for a Ph.D. to prove yourself. I know TONS of Ph.D. candidates, both in Europe and the US, who are literaly obtuse and not fit to whip your b*tt intellectually. And I happen to believe that higher education does not necessarily equal intelligence, talent, or pragmatic resourcefulness. I know of gifted people (like Pro surfer Kelly Slater, for instance) who are enormously intellectual and articulate, just as yourself, while being high school graduates.
I can fully understand that you emotionally relate to Palin (also from hunter to hunter), and I assure you that what bothers me is not her coming from rural Alaska or her not having gone to college, but her sheer stupidity and overconfidence in believing that she could be presidential candidate when it's clearly obvious that she doesn't know what the hell she's talking about or what she's standing for. She's not David Crocket, she's a bimbo.
I happen to like Alaskan singer Jewel Kilcher (who's often been ridiculed too), and I happen to believe that she would make a thousand times better vice-presidential candidate than Palin. Kilcher comes from the exact same background as Palin, but unlike Palin, she has intelligence, presence, eloquence, charisma, and is a humanitarian and environmental activist.
Independance and self-reliance are two great American qualities, which I admire and do my best to pursue. But surviving not because of government, but in spite of it, is unfortunately also typical for America, at least since the Great Depression, which so much reminds me of our current era. The depression you're having is just as bad here in Europe. For instance, Fisherman recently visited Berlin, and I directed his attention to the fact that every third shop/business has closed down due to bankruptcy. The sole difference being that in Europe the government offers more protection when citizens get sick or lose their job. I understand that Americans are distrustful of this, but they're wrong.

Hey Zodiac, they said it wisely in From Hell, and I quote, “You don't wanna fu*k with the Special Branch“. But we're all grateful for your courageous and shrewd act of journalistic defiance in exposing Sir Robert Anderson's ARSE in the Thames, and the DISASTER that this caused.
Can't wait to experience your next bold revelation.
Until then, be seeing you around in the threads,
        Best regards,
        Maria

It's really funny how much effort you guys put in this. It must be quite a burden to you.
This my opinion and to the best of my knowledge, that is, if I'm not joking.

Burden? Not yet. Only if she gets nominated. But we're putting TONS of effort into making jokes (and entertaining ye all).

Pot, meet Kettle. Kettle, this is Pot. Or haven't you noticed you are completely unable to resist jumping in whenever your Bushmaster Barbies name is invoked?

Yes, like I spent a total of 5 minutes on it yesterday while you people were looking up quotes. I spent more time studying film gris last evening.

Aw denial is so cute. You know the first step towards recovery is admitting you have a problem.

You can worry yourself about Palin. I won't. Which one of us is better off?

I'm not particularly worried about her. She's the Paris Hilton of politics. I firmly believe that at the core, Americans are too smart to fall for her idiocy.

It's cute you hillbillies think that being despised and mocked for being a moron is some kind of mark of nobility. And as for her "common" man approach, if anyone actually buys that act, then they are fools and deserving of being mocked. The so-called pioneer woman can't even load her own rifle!

Maybe we consider it a mark of nobility because we consider the source...or...

I got into a tremendous argument with someone. Sarah Palin was at a gathering at which her Preacher burned books about Harry Potter, The Beatles, Stephen J. Gould(The Panda's Thumb) and Carl Sagan. This person said that she didn't personally burn any books, which was in all probability correct. But she was there and she didn't try to stop them. And it is a distinction without a difference. She may have even cheered what was going on. Carl Sagan said that people who burn books are afraid of ideas and have no interest in finding the truth. I have always thought he was right. Archimedes would have understood.
