      Reality

Just because we Americans wanted to try something different and elected a black man as president, does not mean we're ready, willing or able to elect a woman, particularly Palin.

      Yours truly,

      Tom Wescott

Actually I swear that they did, and massively, in Germany, when things got defreezed and health care companies went competitive. The exact same thing happened with phone companies about 5 years ago in continental Europe, as phone/internet bills went from expensive to super low-cost deals. (And actually this is argumenting against government “interventionism“, for which I would like to see a bit more in the US.) Still food, oil, produce, and rent prices get higher every year, but salaries don't, so it's inflation that constitutes a major problem in globalized economy. (And here “interventionism“ migh help.)

This is so sweet. Still, there's not one serious female presidential candidate in the US currently, so the issue doesn't even need to be addressed.

I think she's just an idiot rather than an evil idiot...

Evil would suggest that she would deliberately bring in policies that would harm the USA and the rest of the world...

I don't think she actually wants to do that, but she appears to be so dim, that she would involuntarily harm planet earth through bad decisions and plain old idiocy...

          Just my 2 pennies worth...b

I wanted to say that, but didn't feel like getting involved in that part of the discussion.

Yes, the problem here is that competition won't be opened up - just the opposite.

If Palin is such an idiot then what's that say about her opponents as she continues to run rings around them?
This my opinion and to the best of my knowledge, that is, if I'm not joking.

What opponents? She's not running for anything? She's going on reality TV to become the next Kim Kardashian.

She's about as successful as her mini-me O'Donnell. She gave up her politically elected executive position as governor of Alaska, abandoning her responsibilities to be a TV star.

Who in their right mind would elect her after she quit her last elected position because she didn't feel she could do it effectively?

Since she's a Pentecostal, she might be acquainted with speaking in tongues, which might come handy in foreign politics. The really scary part is her church's belief in an end of days prophecy, which makes me very uncomfortable to think that she might end up controlling America's nuclear weapons.
I always wanted to visit Alaska, but not right now, not a good time...

Those who attack her and call her an idiot are her opponents. If someone was out to suppress me, I would consider them an opponent. Those who obsess on her seem to be the ones with the issues. What are they so afraid of?

It's only Tom Wescott who can come forward with so-called sexist remarks, but women find him charming regardless. (Don't try this at home, if your name's not Tom.)

"Health care is not free in the UK it is funded by the taxpayer."

It is free at the point of care......and "opting out" of paying part of your tax which funds the NHS is not an option.

Well if that is your definition of opponent then she definitely isn't running rings around them. She hasn't managed to give a cohesive interview to anyone, all she is capable of is standing up with a crib sheet and spouting folksy aw-shucks platitudes. She hasn't given a serious in depth interview to any of her "opponents" and she is incapable of giving a cohesive speech on any of the issues.

If the Republicans actually do nominate her, they are signing their death warrant and most of them are smart enough to know it. Obama beat her once. He'll easily beat her again.

The simple truth is, McCain probably would have been president if he hadn't picked her. I know it cost him my vote. I didn't think Obama had the experience to be president, but I was pretty sure McCain was going to die in office and I will be damned if some moronic "I have foreign policy experience because I can see Russia from my backyard" idiot was going to be the first female president.

Obama easily beat her before, and frankly, she hasn't improved her chances with her choices since then.

Can't you just see it now "She quit being governor when she decided it wasn't fun anymore and now she wants to lead America. Elect a proven quitter and a dithering airhead. Vote Palin."
