I'm no fan of Blatter, but I fail to understand the outrage that's greeted his remark that gay fans will have to give up sex while in Qatar. By the same token, they'll have to give up alcohol but there's been no fuss about that. These laws may be wacky but surely people aren't entitled to go to someone's country and break the laws.

No - it seems alcohol is legal in Qatar, but just very expensive - it's supplied by something called the Qatar Distribution Company. (Why let religious scruples stand in the way of profitability?)

According to Phil Carter in the latest Rip, a pint costs 9 quid in Norway. Sounds like the same sort of place to me. Although less sand maybe.

I went to Norway once, steak and chips and a pint of lager 50 quid.

I only stayed for 24 hours, couldn't afford any longer!
