Remains of St John the Baptist 'found'

The BBC reports that "Bone fragments of St John the Baptist appear to have been found on Sveti Ivan Island near Bulgaria's southern Black Sea."

It's an interesting indication of the low standard of BBC reporting these days, if nothing else. Though to be fair, they seem to have left it to the BBC's Athens correspondent rather than consulting someone with some knowledge of religious history.

No wonder John was always tipping water over people!

      Sweaty Ivan Island???

Come on! Now what would John the Baptist be doing on an island with a name like that?

      JOHN RUFFELS.

There's an amusing summary of various historical claims relating to John the Baptist's body parts here:

They had a headline on their news list this morning, something like "Tragic family refused help," which looks like a tragic family being refused help. But when you click it up, the story is about a tragic family who refused help. A bit of care would have removed the ambiguity.

Given that the Knights Templars worshipped the skull of John the Baptist and clearly would have taken it with them along with the rest of the Templar treasure following the attempted eradication of the order, perhaps we are very close to finding the Holy Grail and the Ark of the Covenant. The Templar Treasure must be nearby!
