The Victorian Costume
ThreadBanger's "How to Make A Steampunk Outfit" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbxRdDjp67g Because steampunk is modeled after Victorian wear, it shouldn't be hard to modify the tutorials for a more authentic 19th century look. I especially like the portion of the video about creating bussels.
For accurate dress patterns, suggest you check out http://www.trulyvictorian.com/ The orders are well-priced, although you might want to practice your sewing skills. It also contians a History of Victorian Clothing.
Also take a peak at http://www.demifashions.com/index.html, http://www.bustledress.com/cgi-bin/z.pl/index.html, http://laracorsets.com/, and http://www.topsyturvydesign.com/.
"Grae Phillips Creating Victorian Hats and Hair combs" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHLsj0T0YIo
"DIY VICTORIAN DRESS" parts 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_1FTFeM3bI and 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Vs8HaJKz40 A very cool way to create a costme without sewing.
Makeup in the Victorian Era
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGrzY...2A03EE&index=8 This video is not much a tutorial, but the girl tells us some intriguing facts about the history of makeup, particularly in the late 19th century.
Questions
How can I create a fake knife that looks like the 1 Jack the Ripper usually uses in the moves? I need it for my costume, but I can't take a real weapon into the convention center.
